Family location sharing, without the company in the middle.
Roamkeep keeps your family's locations in a private database that your family owns. We can't see where you are. Not as a promise, but because nothing we run ever receives it.
- Free, with no ads
- For Android
- Source-available

Simple enough for the whole family

Your family's locations go to your family's database, and nowhere else
Most family trackers keep your household's movements on the company's servers. Roamkeep keeps them on yours. The only service we run for the app is a small relay that wakes phones with an empty message.
Your family's database
A free Supabase project on your own account, in the region you choose. You hold the keys, and you can delete all of it.
Your family's phones
Share locations, places, alerts and SOS, only with your database.
The Roamkeep relay
Tells a phone "check for news". It never sees names, places or locations, and keeps no record of what it sends.
No analytics, no ads
No trackers and no crash reporting. Nothing about you is sent to us.
Notifications with no content
The wake-up has no words in it. Your phone reads the details from your own database and writes the notification itself.
Locked to your family
Row-level security in the database keeps each family's data unreadable to anyone outside it, even with a modified app.
Check it yourself
The source is public. Read the code and test every claim on this page.
Nobody is tracked without knowing
Roamkeep is for families who agree to share with each other. It is built so it can't quietly become anything else.
- Everyone sees everyone. There are no one-way watchers in a family.
- Adults can pause. For an hour, two, or the rest of the evening, and the family sees it's paused.
- Always on show. A notification is up whenever location is being recorded, and it comes back if it's swiped away.
- No quiet changes. If an owner marks someone as a child or changes what they can do, that person is told.
- Owners approve new members. A forwarded invite is a request, not a way in.
- Always a way out. Anyone can disconnect their phone, and the family sees that they did.
Five minutes, on one phone
- Android phones for everyone who shares their location. There is no iPhone app.
- A free Supabase account for the person who sets it up. Supabase runs your family's database for you, on your own account.
- About five minutes on that person's phone. Everyone else just taps an invite.
Free
No ads and no paid features. Nothing is held back, and on your family's own server it's free, always.
Roamkeep is made by one person and funded by people who choose to support the project.
